A new photoshop algorithm featured at the Adobe Max 2011 is almost too good to believe. Somehow engineers have figured out a way to take extremely blurry images (by photographers’ standards at least) and render them sharp and usable with the click of a few buttons. The goal behind this software is not to fix improperly focused images but rather to fix motion blur caused by a shaky camera or a slower shutter. The crowd’s reaction at 1:18 is worth watching this video alone but if this technology ever makes it to future copies of Photoshop then this will no doubt rock the digital world in a way we’ve not seen before.
it'll get tougher to create images people will pay for - even a badly focused picture will be recoverable it'll actually take creativity to take it to the next level!

I've had decent luck with Content Aware Fill, this shot I removed two planes streaking though the shot by using only content aware fill.
But this new "deblurring" filter sounds pretty crazy.
We're getting closer to having the technology they've had in hollywood for years........you know, the one where they zoom into a photo and then "clear it up" or "bring into focus"...

Yea, the TV police people have had the license plate and face 'enhance' filter for decades.

I would love this.... I shoot animals and kids... both of which never stay still for long :o)
I've had lots of shots I ended up deleting because the focus was off just enough to make me unhappy with what would have been a good photo....
It will be interesting to see how much resolution and sharpness can actually be restored. Obviously there will be limits where too much detail resolution was fuzzed out in the original image. But for "almost" in focus stuff, it might work pretty well. And "in focus but smeared due to motion" is probably not the same as "lens not focused properly".
