Second Earthquake for today! - 10-20-2011, 10:49 PM

We had an Earthquake this afternoon while I was at work.
It felt like a truck had hit the building, and knocked it off the foundation.
If you had seen the building, you'd know that isn't possible, or it would have to be a really really big truck.
It was first reported as a magnitude 4.2 quack, but quickly downgraded to a 3.9.

When I got home, there were no pictures on the floor, and nothing knocked off any shelves.

Then this evening, there was an aftershock at 8:16pm. Usually, an aftershock is less strong than the earlier quake, but this one was again originally measured at a 4.2 and again downgraded to a 3.9 magnitude.

Yeah, we're expecting more aftershocks, and they should be even lower in magnitude. I just hope I can sleep tonight without any major shaking.
At least not any that I didn't cause.

Here's a link to some images I shot from the 1989 Loma Prieta Quake. That one was a 6.9 magnitude.

Alan,

Hope you are doing well. I grew up in your general neighborhood. We were the last house in Dana Hills in Concord, our neighbor was in Clayton.

I remember rocking and rolling, give me a tornado any day.

Steve, all is well. Just minor shakers.
Thanks for asking.

So you used to live on Del Trigo? I used to live on Roanwood which is right off of Del Trigo.
It's a small world, eh?
I'm not that far from there now. Maybe a mile?

Alan,

Yes, the last house in Dana Hills on Del Trigo, going up the hill, the last house on the right, it used to be samon pink (yep a typical California color).

What a small world.

Thanks folks. Actually, there was another one this morning. At 5:26am, as I was watching the news before work.
This one was a 3.6 and in the same place as the last two. About two or three miles from my work.
This one I didn't even feel here at home. I'm 26 miles from work, not as the crow flies either.
