lol. Now that I have your attention...
OMG. I so want to shoot and print tons of portraits of my baby, but I have so many clients that I haven't had time. I shot him when he was 3 days old. He's 3 1/2 months now and I haven't gotten to do another shoot yet. :( I made a point of grabbing some shots on Halloween when he was dressed up. But OMG - I totally want to cut my client load so I can shoot the baby!
What do you all do?
Maybe I should leave my gear at the house instead of the store - but EVERYTHING is at the studio. By the time I get home at the end of the day, I'm ready to drop dead.
I need to take a month off again...that was awesome. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

How the hell do you write three books while being pregnant, a new mom and a full time photographer?! I have no kids, so I can't really help with your actual question though.

I tried that. I got a little one and it SUCKS. Half of the pictures are blurry or it doesnt seem to know where to focus. I was using that to make sure I dont have nothing, but it totally sucks compared to a DSLR.

I'm a point and shoot mom for the most part. I setup shots around holidays but that is it. I've learned to love the on the go Point and Shoot shot more than the setup ones. I just love the spontaneous, having fun shots!! They are the ones that are going to be important to me when he is all grown up.......not the "sit here and smile" shot!!

I like my Panasonic LX-5 (about $350 now, not too bad) for a p&s. Not quite pocketable but much better than the average p&s, it also shoots raw and has a hotshoe if you're inclined to use off camera flash. The lens is f/2.0 on the wide end so it does decently well indoors without a flash, which is good since the on camera flash is kind of sucky.
I've been wanting to take more photos of my niece and nephews, I haven't had the time either :(

That or get a used entry-level DSLR with a cheap prime that you can leave at home. Keeps it simple, and allows you the control you're used to. Might even be a more fun challenge if you're limited on your equipment.

Or, you can do like my wife did. The kids were still in grade school and she was tired of waiting for me to do their Easter portraits one year. She found a sure way to get me to do them....next time. She took them to our friend, who just happened to be the most expensive photographer in town. Did I say expensive? She had them done, and said, "Send Howard the bill. No discount." He did. He didn't.
Believe it or not, she never had to ask me again.
