2011 West Coast Road Trip... (Daily Updates)

So... I had a friend of mine decide to buy this 1970 VW Panel Bus but the thing is located in Seattle, WA. We had the bright idea of giving this VW bus one last west coast run before it gets shipped back here to Houston, TX.

We pick it up Wednesday morning in Seattle and then begin the 900 mile drive along the coast down to San Franciso, CA. The bus will be shipped to Houston from there and we'll fly home.



The VW bus has a whopping 39 horsepower engine and no heat or a/c. lol. Good times.

This is the trek we're looking to make over the course of about 5 days. This should give us plenty of time to see the sights, take photos and break down along side the road someplace. ha!



Anyways... I'll be updating this thread daily via my iPhone while we're out on this Road Trip. It should be a blast and I'm sure we'll take home some great stories in the process.

The transport company he hired said they can pick it up anywhere along the way if it breaks down prior to us getting to San Fran so we're all good. Haha.

I'm glad you are taking the Pacific Coast Hwy, would have to slap you around some if you were just taking I-5 south to San Fran. Looking forward to seeing your images!

Abel--if you have time, the Tillamook cheese factory is kind of interesting, and they also have an aviation museum in Tillamook, Oregon if you have the time and interest (the aviation museum also has a restaurant if you need one). The Yaquina Head and Heceta Head lighthouses offer some pretty good photographic opportunities as well.

last time i drove from san fran to seattle i had to take i-5... nothing to see
