Why? Minolta has the beercan. Not quite as catchy but still a loved lens nickname.

Almost forgot the "plastic fantastic" for the Vivitar Macros.

of course, I call it plastic junk. it's an ok value and I can understand why people buy it...

but pssst...sigma makes the best 50mm lens.

Mine fell apart after I touched it..... plastic junk.... I got a real (well one of the real)
50mm lens :)

I've been enjoying mine. Great low light capabilities, works well with my kenko tubes, light weight, and it fit my budget. Perfect lens for me, although I do just call it my fifty...
