Best steaks in Texas? - 12-08-2011, 12:38 PM

I know it's a tad subjective. But who do you think serves the best steaks around Texas (restaurants only)?

I'm planning a few short trips next year, and would use this as my guide of where to go, and have a great steak.

Plan on doing the same with BBQ when it warms up some.

I like Killen's Steakhouse (Houston/Pearland). I have been there 4 times now and it has been awesome, from the normal wet aged fillet to the crazy 32oz Dry aged long bone-in Kobe beef ribeye! The desserts are also really good. I HIGHLY recommend the Creme Brule Bread Pudding. The crab cake appetizer is also amazing.

Morton's is tops in my book. Great steaks and they even have limited seating in the wine cellar, which is nice for special occasions. They even print a custom menu with your names on it. Nice for anniversaries and such.

Rick's Chop House here in McKinney is damn good.

I also enjoy Lawry's in Addison for prime rib. Esp their horse radish butter is to die for.

Del Friscos in fort worth is one of my favorites. You have to eat in the wine cellar, and ask the wait staff about the ghosts. It is a very historical place.

There's a place up Amarillo where you can get free steak... if you eat the whole thing. They advertise it constantly, for about 3 states before you even get to Texas.... LOL

It's called Big Texan Steak Ranch... free 72oz steak. They even have live overhead webcams so you can watch people do it.

Another vote for Taste of Texas - the salad bar is even good but who needs salad when you got steak

Todd is right, Ricks is damn good.

The Big Texan in Amarillo, is not. Think Sizzler with even cheaper meat (if that is possible). Stake and Shake is a better value than the Big Texan, and i wont eat either again.

Back to Rick's a bit pricey but worth it, but they have a burger for lunch that is reasonable 10 dollar range, that too is damn good.

Morton's is also very good, and they really make you feel special if you tell them it's a special occasion.
