This is my first SLR I got it yesterday evening and have just got around to playing around with it. Can't wait to have a nice day away from the house!

I don't know if its my screen or not, but I'm having a difficult time picking out the focus point in the first three images. I see you are in my neck of the woods. Plenty of places to go out and shoot, especially when it warms back up and the bugs come out.

I'm debating between the 550D, 600D, and 60D right now... it'll be used strictly with a 65mm MP-E.

The first is focused on the potted flowers. The second is the clothes pin. The third was out of focus. They are not entirely in focus though because they were all shot with mf. I've still got some getting used to such a large body but I was mostly experimening With the depth of field. What fstop is the MP - E

Barta,

Congrats on your new toy. My favorite of your photos is the closepin. Very cool use of Depth of Field and nice placement of the subject on the lower right golden third. I also like all that character you captured in that tree.

Garret, That lens is one I've been wanting for a while, but just haven't been able to justify for just macro shooting. One of these days...
I had to laugh at the reviews on BH... 20 of the 70 something reviewers said the autofocus was a strong point. It's a manual focus lens. That must be a default in the review form and those people didn't change it? I dunno, but it sort of made me take all of the reviews with a grain of salt.

Regards,
Patti

Thanks Patti :)

Garret, I didn't notice you were from Tomball until just now. Yes there are a few spots i'm going to hit as soon as it warms up and the wildlife is rejuvenated.

Live in Tomball? Yes. From Tomball? No.

The good thing is the parks are in good condition and I plan on making quite a few trips next year.
