1-18, it's a flash site that takes more than 9 seconds to load. :)

But seriously, some of these flash sites Ph's have , take a ridiculous amount of time to load, and i usually don't have enough patience or curiosity to see their photo's

Music on a Photography site does it for me EVERYTIME. I hit the back button immediately.

I hate a "cover page" on sites. When I enter a URL, I obviously want to enter the site. I don't want a pretty cover page with "click here to enter site"

I don't want to wait forever for photos to file. I'd like thumbnails large enough to see, and if I want to see more, I'll click and wait a reasonable amount of time for it to load.

I don't want all the fancy Flash, and stupid gimmics.

I hate stupid popups and pages that open new windows.

I'd like to get the "gist" of your photos from the homepage, THAT is where I want to see what you got.
To be honest, I haven't seen a photographers page that I like, YET. Most times, I give up and go find their Flickr page.

But then again, I'm not interested in photographer's SERVICES. I just want to see their PICTURES. I guess their sites aren't geared towards people like me, huh?

I've been complaining about it for years... even when I am browsing from home.. hitting a site where the first thing that happens is music comes blasting out of my speakers gets an instance "What are you doing?" from every corner of the house.. it doesn't just interrupt and annoy me - it does it to everyone within earshot.

Unfortunately, this is a product of SEO. One of the things that contributes to rankings is something called "bounce rate." When they hit your page, do they go deeper into your site or to another site? By having a splash page, you can reduce your bounce rate slightly.

Flash is evil.

Used to be that it was good "netiquette" to open a new window if you were leaving the website you were on... nowadays, I think it may be related to that SEO thing about bounce rates again.. but I don't know. I do know that I still open a new browser window when sending someone to a new site .. that way they know they've left my site.

My current setup (and it seems to be working well) is for each of my targets (seniors, weddings, etc), I have a front page.. that page has a slide show for that genre and an "enter" link that takes you to an appropriate page on my main website.

Whenever I hit the "bounce" page, I bounce right back to the page I was before via the backbutton.

I don't mind a new window into a different site (like a link on this forum opens a new window)
I hate windows opening within the same site, before you know it, you have 5 windows open in stupidphotographersite.com
Even worse are those "warning" popups you get when you "X" out of one of these pages: "Are you sure you want to navigate away from stupidphotographersite.com?" HELL YES I'm sure

You know what else drives me nuts? I recently ordered a gallerywrap from pictureitoncanvas. Their price list is hidden. They first want me to upload a photo, and THEN pick the size. I need to have my photo sized first, and that is according to the price, but I can't find the stupid price list!
I bought a Groupon, and it had a typo. I needed to find the size that matched the price of my Groupon. Pain in the BUTT! Because of the hidden price list, I doubt I'll buy from them again. DON'T HIDE YOUR PRICES!
