Things to do near San Marcos - 12-12-2011, 06:31 PM

I currently live in San Marcos, Texas. I want to take my girl friend out for a nice day of adventures sometime soon but I'm not sure exactly what all there is to do in this area of the state. I can travel as far as austin or san antonio or even a little farther but since its only a day thing i don't want something over like an 2 hours. Thanks for any help y'all can give.

Aquarena Springs, Wonder World Park, or Natural Bridge Caverns are all fun outdoor type of things. All within a short drive.

Didn't Aquarena Springs close years ago?

I've lived just outside of San Marcos, and live in Austin now. I were you, I would take her to the Riverwalk and the Rivercenter Mall in San Antonio. This would be a good time of year to go since it will be decorated. You could even do some shopping. There is a plaza where the boats turn around and pan pipers play and lots of chairs available. It's a great place to just sit. There is an IMAX and a wide choice of places to eat, but they tend to be higher priced than the rest of SA.
Try to park under the Interstate if you can. It's not free though. It's a block away from the mall and you can blame me for telling you to. Parking in the Mall garage is EXPENSIVE. I think it is the same exit as for the Hemisphere.
