Cowboys stadium tour - 12-14-2011, 02:29 PM

Has anyone done the Cowboys stadium self guided tour?

I couldn't find too much info on their website.

DSLR restrictions? Tripod?

Time limit?

I've been on a field trip with my sons school. Not quite the same but we did take a tour.
I brought a DSLR and full camera bag but no tripod. They looked in my bag and let me in no problem.
Not sure about a time limit, it was a 4th grade trip and the kids were moving through it really quick so that was my time limiter...

I found this info in their web site under tours, recommendations.

All tour dates, times and tour stops are subject to change without notice due to events in the stadium.

No video recorders are allowed on the tour.

Purses and bags will be allowed on the tour but will be subject to a search before entering the stadium.

Cameras are allowed inside the stadium. However, cameras of a professional caliber (3 inch lenses or longer) will not be permitted inside the stadium!

The Guided Tours will last for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Notify your tour guide or your group tour coordinator of any special needs (bilingual guide, wheelchair access, etc.)

Group tours must be booked at least one week in advance.

Please refrain from bringing any food or drink on your tour.

Cowboys Stadium is a smoke free facility.

I also see a phone number, 800-745-3000, that I would call and ask them about their camera rules.

That's interesting, one of the dads in our group had a 70-200 on his camera.

But all I used was the 16-35, 15mm fisheye and 50L. Not sure why you would need a big lens for the tour anyway.

I'm planning to use a 17-40 and 35L.

Is the lighting good enough where I can hand hold a 17-40 on the field?

I'll look at the EXIF on my shots when I get home.
I was handholding all my shots, but I might of been at iso 1600 because I was trying to capture the kids playing.

Both handheld

Camera Nikon D700
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/640)
Aperture f/3.5
Focal Length 17 mm
ISO Speed 800

One caution depending on time of day is the hard light that moves across the field morning and late afternoon.

it's funny because I always try to adhere to the rules and only brought my 50d + 17-50 tamrom w/o grip to not cause a stir.

Then I see a mom with her 70-300 get through (I think it's longer than 3 inches). If I brought my 70-200 I think they would have an issue with it.
