Just got home from an advanced screening and I'm still gathering my thoughts, here are a few though: disturbing, dark, violent, brilliant, loved it.

I saw all of them that were release in 2008. Loved it could not stop watching. It sucks you in and you cannot stop watching no matter how disturbing, dark and violent it is. I cannot believe that they already did a remake!

I don't remember seeing any previews for it in 2008. Was it an indie release or foreign film?

I did not catch her interview, but I did IMDB her when I got home last night to see what else she was in, also looked at some of her images, and yeah, she is beautiful, rich too. She's the daughter of the Mara family which owns the NY Giants.

Foreign film, although it did have a release here stateside I believe. From what I've read of the reviews the new girl doesn't play the character as well as the original. Awesome foreign film to watch.

Slight correction, Dan, if I may: She's the daughter of the Mara family AND the Rooney family, which owns the Pittsburgh Steelers (thus her name Rooney Mara). Actually, her full name is Patricia Rooney Mara.

I picked up all three of the Swedish version in either Wally or Best Buy. I've seen them for sale as a package on Amazon, and Comcast has them on PPV in six parts (two per book) for $2.99 apiece.

The original is a Swedish film staring Noomi Rapace. She really defined the character of Lizbeth Salander in all three films. Although Rooney Mara does a good job in the current one she doesn't touch the performance of Rapace.

BTW Noomi Rapace is in the new Sherlock Holmes movie too.

The original trilogy was EXCELLENT!

Have them in a blu-ray collection.

I've been wanting to download to my kindle but it's too expensive for an ebook.

Which is where actual books win out, especially if you can find them at half price. Probably much harder right now with the movies coming out.

Wally has plenty of the first two in paperback for $6-something each. Had to buy the third book in hardcover. I don't think they ever got around to releasing it in paperback, although they were supposed to have done this past summer.

Dan's description of the movie in his initial comments can be applied to the books as well.

Well, I might have lied: Amazon shows a complete set of all three books in paperback for $28.24 new.

But I lubs my kindle!
And I like paying 99 cents or borrowing kindle books for free.
I used to read maybe one (paper) book a year, usually only on vacation.
This year I read 15.

I downloaded the kindle app for my computer for free. Rather enjoy being able to borrow a book from the library without ever leaving my house. :D

Read the books for crying out loud.
See the Swedish movies.
See the USA attempt.
Report back.

Will see the latest movie when I return to Houston.

Wayne

My guess, sight unseen: Probably similar to "La Femme Nakita" and the U.S.A. Brigitte Fonda attempt at the same movie. So bad the name escapes me.
