Basically the only formula diff was HFCS. but the logo/branding issue was the deal killer. DP still owns both formulas and Dublin was ok doing either formula, as was any other official bottler; ie Temple. Once Dublin rebranded it as 'Dublin' DP AND violated the distribution rules, they crossed the line.

It isn't and never was about the formula

since they started marketing it as "Dublin" DP, including the modified logos. I have been following it for several years, and I am sure it wasn't new then.

To be clear, the modified logos was not the problem... distributing beyond the 6 or so counties was... DP/Snapple has already said they liked the nostalgic packaging and plan to use it (minus the word "Dublin") when they release their own DP with sugar instead of HFCS.

I think they should have kept the Dublin name on that.. and made legions of fans happy. But what do I know about marketing....

I read the trademark folks were all in a wad over the logo (DP wanted ownership of all logos but Dublin wouldn't let The Corporation take control and all that stuff). But that may have settled down. As I mentioned, I've been following this for a couple of years so some issues have probably come and gone over time.

but when the other distributors saw the encroachment on their turf, that was the hornet's nest.
