Dang, that's too bad. I was hoping (before the filing announcement) that somebody would swoop in, and buy up their intellectual property and patents and essentially save the name.

It is all those stupid short sighted execs, with the golden parachutes, who ran it into the ground. Harvard MBAs have destroyed more companies than any other cause. Seems they always look at the short term, and never long term, Kodak is just one of many destined to fail.

Really good Economist article on why Fuji Film continued to thrive and Kodak died.

Depends on the strategy. If the move is to restructure & come out swinging, they better have a different approach than they've had up to now. If it's to break it up & spin off the parts, then who knows?

Bankruptcy can be used to help the company survive in the long run. But if they use it just to fight-off the creditors then it's a loosing battle for Kodak.

Let's hope the bean counters in the management company they hired aren't the one's defining EK's vision of it's future. Cheap goods aren't what they need, small batches with quality is. Kodak never had a quality problem.

That's the difference in having someone with an MBA and a person passionate about their industry running the show. Look at the tech industry where the founders are/were running things.

I hate to hear it, but I honestly can't remember the last time I used a Kodak-branded product (not even photographic paper).

The days when I could develop my Kodak T-MAX 400, using Kodak chemicals and printing on Kodak paper (actually, we used Illford paper toward the end) while munching on a Twinkie® and drinking a Dublin Dr Pepper® could be over!

Kodak's main problem was they were the only game in-town, then began to read their own press clippings, went to their heads, became to arrogant to the "Pro" photographers, trying to serve the market... then failed to keep-up with the times... they tried to build everything, have too much control of the process, anyone with any lab experience, knows that Kodak's equipment was classic "Rube Goldberg" at it's finest... engineers trying to be designers...

Report I heard said they are going to focus their business on their line of printers with what is left of the company.

Should be interesting to see where and how long that goes.
