Sound Fishy??

I go this response from a person about both of my lenses that I have for sale here that are also listed on Craigslist.

Just seemed strange to me I guess but if he pays my paypal account is there anything to worry about after that point? I've used paypal for years with no problems so I just wasn't sure.

i will like to know the condition of this lens and is the original box
still available and other accessories,i am buying it for my son abroad
and i will be paying via paypal,$150 will be added to the cost of the
lens as shipping charges via Local Post/Priority mail international,if
you don't have a paypal account you can get an account opened at
paypal.com,but if you already have a paypal account,send me your
paypal account or send an invoice via paypal to this email because it
is linked to my paypal account,so that i can have the fund transferred
as soon as possible

Pass!! It is a total scam. He can claim he never got the lens, and since you'd ship overseas to who knows where, it may not be easy to confirm. PayPal will give him his money back and you are out a lens.

A friend of mine got this reply concerning a cell phone she was selling on craigslist....sound familiar?

How does paypal get the money back from me though if that's what he claims I guess would be my question?

If you ship it with confirmation on the other end (FedEX, UPS etc.), how can they claim different. Also what would they do at that point, give me a bad feedback on Craigslist or something.

I get where you guys are coming from. I'm just curious I guess how this scam would work once I have money in hand/bank?

I know a check can eventually be found to be forged or bad or whatever but electronically how would this work?

PayPal can pull the money back if they complain. If you pulled it out to your bank account they will just deduct it from your CC.

I keep getting these "offers" all the time (from Spain, Sweden, Singapore etc) when listing an electronics item on ebay and even marking it as "Shipping within US only". Everybody has a nice story that comes with it.

Just like others have suggested stay away from this one. Just to save yourself from the grief that may ensue afterwards.

I was just curious about the logistics of it because I'm curious that way. That and I still don't see how Paypal can take their word over yours when you have all the evidence and your past record with them.

I guess these guys are getting better and better at their scams.

PayPal is heavily biased towards buyer protection, they always have been.

If nothing else it was fun jacking around with him. I didn't realize he was a Marine officer either until he told me. I told him that was cool since I worked on an Air Force base if he could give me his .mil email address I'd shoot him a quick email.
