Yeah it was fighting for govt. contracts but Humvee won the contract (and they were domestic).
These LM002's still fetch a pretty penny for SUV collectors.
But yeah the boxster / cayenne / etc are all to help fund the company to bring you Carrera gt's and 911 turbos. Heck even Enzo Ferrrari himself admitted he just made cars to fund his f1 team. If you have ever driven a boxster or cayenne, they're actually really fun / responsive. You would be surprised how well a 2+ ton suv outhandles some "sports cars" on a real track.
