Building a cyc wall - 02-08-2012, 09:59 AM

I was doing some digging on the best way to build a cyc wall. This just looks like the perfect way to do it (not). My Husband wants to hire her!

Positives - she wears eye protection, doesn't have loose clothing which could be hazardous on the job site and even though it was going to take her all day to hammer in that nail, it was going to take her all day to hammer in that nail.

Negatives - ya got me on that one.

I thought she did one heck of a job. Only complaint was there was no contact information to contract out work.

....Maybe I need to watch it again. It's possible I just missed the contact information.

Actually, she wore safety glasses while sawing, but not while drilling or hammering, and you know a screw or nail could break and fly in her eye. Go back and look carefully.

Ok, nice carpenter. Otoh, why is it built so high off the floor?

I wondered about that myself.

I honestly want to build one of these in my studio... but somehow don't think I'll look as good in that outfit while making it.

The platform is elevated so you can shoot from a low angle without having to get on the ground. Also, you are using a tripod it's hard to get really close to the ground. They should have explained that in the video as I'm sure a lot of people are wondering.

Well, that would be fine if you are doing tabletop photography. Otherwise, I've been shooting people on the floor or ground for 30+ years. Don't really see the need for it on a large scale set. But, others may.
