He appears to have a fairly large body of work, which would indicate it may not take hours to create his effects. I'm dying to use some of these ideas.

I like how they make the photos into artwork, but you can still see they are photographs. It seems like there aren't many people that can do that...or maybe they don't want to. It seems those that do alot of photoshop in their photos, make them seem not so real. Maybe I'm not saying it correctly??? : )

picasa will also do the 'photo slide show to video' thing.

has a 'timelapse' option to, for short duration, or a 'slideshow' version with music, that has longer durations.

I'm on a Mac with OS X Snow Leopard. Never used iMovie or iPhoto so far. I guess it's time to look into it.
