Judging by the very mild winter we're having this year, I'm going to guess we're going to break all sorts of record breaking heat temperature this year.......

Based on what? We had one of the coldest winters last year followed by a very hot summer. Why would a mild winter bring on record summer heat?

I don't think one has anything to do with the other. It's always hot in the summer here in Texas... I don't see it changing...at least it hasn't the last 65 years I've been here.

Just an observation...... :D

Jan and Feb, Dallas area had fifteen 70+ temps. Tomorrow it's forecasted for 76 and Thursday 83 degrees. We had a total of seven days which was lowest at 27 and around 31.

The two don't have any correlation. We are in the progress of moving from a La Nina pattern to an El Nino pattern, NOAA suggests that we will be out of the La Nina to a neutral pattern in or around May 2012. This should bring a bit more rain for the summer and could produce lower than average summer temps as we move into the El Nino pattern over the next couple of years.

Winter 2010-2011 was one of the coldest on record and last summer was one of the hottest on record. The two have nothing to do with one another.

Exactly... we had a mild winter (with one snowfall on Valentine's Day) several years back.. and the following year was one of the wettest on record, which kept temperatures down. I think we only had a dozen or so days that even broke 100 that year.

I am more concerned with hurricanes than what winter may throw at us, though an icy winter storm can certainly make my job very miserable. My occupation is public servant, and extreme weather causes the public to need MUCH service. I knew I was no longer in my prime, and becoming a senior citizen, when the aftermath of Ike left me so terribly fatigued that it took me months to recover, and still not back to my former normal today.
