Need Help! Video Stream - Capturing them? - 03-06-2006, 02:45 PM

Can you download or rip a video stream which is on a website? Is there some program which will allow me to capture this stream or actually download it from the site?

I need this for my Real Job and it is a VERY and I repeat VERY important subject/case. So anything you guys can help me with would be great!

OK...got this from a friend who I consider "an expert":

This web page has a good breakdown on several streaming video recorders, but most cost money to use:

http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...g-software.htm

Note that I don’t think any of these will record streams with DRM enabled, and most don’t record password protected streams. If trying to record streams such as those, why not just use a video camera? Also possible to do screen grabs and piece together a movie manually, but that is a lot of effort over a video camera for not much gain I can see.

Thanks LL, but I think the copy and paste may have chopped up the link, or else it's my security settings. It gives me a "page not found" page.

The only reason I ask is because I've wondered how that works myself.

What are the copyright issues involved here? We don't like it if other people take our photos from our website, so we should respect other people's work and IP.

If it is okay for you to have the video, why no just contact the company and ask them to send you the video file.
