Do I have a problem-Comp Guru Help - 03-07-2006, 09:17 AM

Ok, I'm now on my third computer in the last three months.......the first one didn't have the HD room I needed, and the second one took forever to process, so I took the plunge and bought an HP Media Center with the dual processer, the wireless lan, the hyperthreader, removable harddrive and lightscribe. It's the lightscribe that I think may be causing me problems.
My burner was really quiet and efficient until I started using the lightscribe (which is pretty cool, btw!). Now when I burn stuff, it sounds like there is a lawnmower in the drive. I keep double checking and it's burning alright, but the noise is just weird.
Do I have a problem? Is this normal? I really don't want to have to take this puppy back because I spent about a week loading programs and files, and updating calendars and contacts.............

LOL, some of the new burners spin so fast it sounds like a jet engine is about to take off when they are spinning. I just got a new Dell and had to open the case and tighten the screws on mine that were attaching it to the frame as it was a little noisy too. You might try that as it lowered mine's noise level considerably.

No promises that that will cure it - the new ones are louder as they simply spin faster, but hopefully it helps a little!
