We lost not only a great photographer but a great human being. Here are some of his early work with FSA and what he had to over come and what he learned.

A true legend. A pioneer in every sense of the word. He will be missed. It is strange sometimes how hearing someone's passing surprises you. This is one of those times. It seemed he would live forever- always a constant beacon of humanity.

I'm going to be honest and say I've heard of him but don't know really what he's done. I'm going to do my homework. It's a sad day when anyone passes away. I'm sure he will be missed by a lot of people. Say a prayer for his family. On a more positive note however, you do have another up and coming legend....THE LEGEND.

Sorry to hear that. A very sharp person and photographer. A real achiever. One of the great photojournalists from Life magazine. And writer. And poet. And film director.

I just watched his 1971 "Shaft" tonight and had forgotten he had directed it.

I think I'll read his autobiographies. He overcame a lot of difficulties in his life but his focus was on achieving not whining. My favorite kind of story.

Bill
