What kind of storage capacity will they have? I couldn' t find any specs. If this gadget could really replace my laptop, blackberry, GPS and a few of the other things I carry around when I travel, I'm in!

Okay. I found this:

OEMs will have unique specs. However, .general specs for the UMPC cateogory are:

7" screen size or smaller
Native display resolution of 800x480, with 800x600 and 1024x600 via scaling
Intel or VIA moble x86 processor (Intel Celeron M, Pentium M or Via C7-M)
30GB to 60GB+ standard notebook hard drive
Multiple input methods: touch screen, pen, button controls, keyboard (option via USB or Bluetooth)
WiFi, Bluetooth
Weighs under 2lbs
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 (Windows Vista when released)

30 to 60 GB probably will not cut it for very long. I have something similar to the Epson 2000 (GigaVu) that holds 40 gigs and my husband and I have pushed its limits on some trips.

The UMPC will have to hold more than 60 gigs to be able to do all the things it claims - Microsoft software(space hog), MP3, photos, extensive map data for GPS software, etc.

I guess I just need to wait until I see specs for one of the actual manufacturers like Samsung or whoever. I'll keep looking.

Patti

I've read 512mb ram and 40gb HD. Both need to be expandable before I get too excited.
