Wow...what an incredible exhibit. If you haven't seen it (at the Houston Museum of Natural Science - http://www.hmns.org/exhibits/special...bodyworlds.asp) it is definitely worth it.

There always has to be someone complaining about something. Why can't people just let other people do what they want and leave it at that?

Let's not turn this into a point/counterpoint discussion. My intent was to point out a fascinating scientific and artistic (yes, it is artistic) exhibit that is being hosted locally.

Mind if I test my 20megaton nuclear device in you backyard? Discussing an issue with both pro and con values is how societies derive and maintain values.

It is all you say but I wanted to point out there were issues about it and its scientific and artistic value. The essay at BBC was thoughtful and I think raised valide issues about it's scientific and artistic value.

Societies have limits which they place on even scientific and artistic exhibits and is it not useful to look at those limits and values?

It is very valuable and I fully support it and engage in such conversations - but those discussions tend degenerate very quickly into opinions (political/religious).

My intent in posting this was to make people aware that this exhibit was here in Houston. I went yesterday and found it both fascinating and somewhat "creepy". As the essay says, it is a great exhibit but you always have to remember that these were real humans. The eyes are present in some and when you look at the exhibit, it seems as though the bodys are looking right back at you.

Uh .... yeah.

Out of respect for LL I won't even comment on that. Lizard I apologize, I didn't mean to be inflamatory.

That's interesting, but how is he able to do this legally? I mean, if one of you willingly gave your dead body to me, I couldn't do as I wished with it, as there are laws against mishandling a corpse. Even though he does this outside this country, he brings them here.

Not against it, mind you, just curious. Hey, they willingly gave themselves to him. Well, we have to assume they did it willingly! :o mwahahahahahaha!!!

That is kind of Creepy, however that is REALLY neat for Science. What a way to educate our future with real life models rather then this PERFECT yet fake plastic.
