TPF Food drive - Colin Co. Tornado Victims - 05-11-2006, 02:33 PM

Fill the Scion with food and water, blankets, clothes and other needs such as hygene items, for the poeple that lost everything in the collin county tornados. At least 3 people died, about 10 injured countless homes destroyed. The national weather service said that an F3 tornado cut a pat 10 miles long.
As soon as it's full we can all carvan up to Westminster and/or other Collin County site and deliver the goods. I would like to get it filled fast. Also I think has to be just for the DFW people cause I can't drive to Houston or Austin for this. Can we set a goal for Sunday? I know it's Mother's day. But it will be the only time until next saturday I will be with out the kids. Unles we do it inthe evening sometime. Let me know what ya'll think. Lets hook these people up. If you live far from DFW and want to help out you can send money and I will take that to wallmart and buy more stuff for the victims.

I'll donate but need a "real" name to go with that mailing address unless your mail mule already knows where Scooby Roo lives... or... I'll meet ya halfway to slap some cash in your hand. Glad to help...

Well, I told you in chat, I will help out and donate whatever I can. Let me know when you are going out there. Since we are talking Sunday, Mother's Day, I will have to work it around lunch b/c we are going out and taking my mom out. Anyway, just let me know.

Mesquite is bout a hunderd miles away from you but I work in N Dallas (NW Hwy and the Tollway) so it's not as far as one would suppose. Send me a pm where and when or I can mail it but it's doubtful that it would be there by Sunday if mailed. Your choice.

Actually, Mesquite is on the SE side of Dallas and I live about as close to the boondocks of Mesquite as you can get.... think Town East Mall area for general area. I mean, I can get to the catfish farm, Devil's Bowl raceway, and the shooting range within 4 or 5 minutes from the house so if that ain't the redneck boondocks, I don't what is unless you want to throw in the Mesquite Rodeo at maybe 9 or 10 minutes from the house.

canned foods, or clothes or whatever. Keep in mind that these people lost everyting just like the hurricane victims did. Just not on as big of a scale.

Very admirable of you to take the initiative to do this. Not very many people would even think twice about it.

impromptu collection center & meet up place for CC Tornado Victims - 05-12-2006, 07:57 PM

hey all, just got off of the phone with ScoobyRoo (Erin) and she asked me to post this, since she is not at her computer:

There are a few of us that would like to head up with her and take the stuff to the folks who need it up north. Some are coming from Ft. Worth, some from Denton, etc. I am glad to have us meet at my house, which is on the way (north Plano) and head out from there.

Sounds like one extra car (with us in it) plus the packed Scion should do it. In that case, anyone who finds it more convenient to bring their donations over to my house in between now and then is welcomed to, and we can pack her Scion before we head out.
