Question Anyone still shoot slides?? - 06-12-2006, 09:02 AM

Hi
I got back into photography a few years back when digital started going strong. I also joined the local photo club. They have monthly competitions alternating between slides and prints. To join in I dug out my old Pentax K1000 and bought my first roll of slide film. It just isn't as much fun as digital. There's only 2 places in Victoria that sell slide film and it takes about 10 days to get it processed. Then you have to find a viewer. What a pain. So my question is....Does anyone still use slide film? Mark

Every so often. A bit of Velvia here and there as a social thing, but I can control it, I'm not an addict.

I used to shoot slides exclusively but have pretty much given up on them, all me film work now is medium format which I don't shoot as often as I would like to.

The Houston Camera Club still has more slide shooters than digital shooters. Check them out.

They have a monthly competition with various categories (pictoral/nature/etc) and there are 2 divisions: Slide & Print. The slides always seem to have more entries.
Also many of the intraclub competitions are slide based.
