Lightning iRod ... - 07-10-2006, 08:57 AM

Ok, so have you heard about the one about the lawn mowing kid and the ipod? Sounds like a joke? It ought to be.

This moron and his mother are blaming the Apple iPod for him being struck by lightning. Apparently this tard was mowing the yard and was struck by lightning. And get this, the wires that conduct electrical currents TO the earbuds, conducted the electrical strike down to the iPod FROM the earbuds!! Wow who knew that electrically conductive wire will send eletricity BOTH ways!

Personally I am aghast.

Yeah, lightning is like that ya schmo. That is why saying like "it was as random as being struck by lightning" are cliches. Oh but I'm sure it was the insignificant current created by the earbuds that got this open mouth breather hit by lightning and not the fact that the dumbass was out in the rain or at the very least while it was thundering and lighting.

And seriously, if I were actually STRUCK BY LIGHTNING I think that the last thing I would be worried about would be the burns I got from my earbuds. I mean what do these people expect? One way wires?

If you ask me it was clearly not the iPod. Nope. I think it was the music. I mean the lightning did wait to strike until a certain time. What was he listening to? Was it metal music? Metal is conductive! That could be it. There you have it. Metal music kills.

No wait. I know. The real question here is .... was it a pirated MP3? See. If it was then clearly this was an act of God. He smote the iPod carrying teen for having committed the ulimate sin of taking music! Very Sodom and Gamora.

Why is it whenever something happens people have to point at the most retarded thing and blame it? You just know that there is a check in this somewhere. And Apple is probably already on the scene paying bills and offering "payment of non-admission" in hopes of being indemnified.

All I got to say is if this kid get paid then I am sending Pika out in every storm we have from now on with every eletrical gadget I have plugging by AC adapters to an old cracked power strip that is plugged into a cut, frayed extension chord that is plugged into a gasoline powered generator burning deisel fuel and blowing exhaust straight into his face.

Oh yeah, we're gon'na get paid.

Prophet out.

Back in my day when you got struck by lightning and didn't die, you would be like "Hey! I got struck by lightning and didn't die! Sweet!"

I guess times they are a-changin'...

Ipod may have saved his life by conducting the electricity away from his internal liquid fiilled bag of guts.
Now if he was on a sattelite phone or a big old 1980's brick sized cell phone I could see it as a "hey I dare you to strike me" situation but on Ipod that has less power behind it than a little old 1950's transistor radio, nah.

There were 2 local kids that were up in the Rockies a couple weeks ago and one of them was nailed by lightening, shredded his pants-blew off his shoes (never did find his socks)-scarred him up pretty good as well as taking out a chunk of hair out of his scalp, and the second guy was knocked over pretty well. Well the second boy went back to his friend and gave him some CPR and the kid came too and looks to be alright. So the answer to the question is DON'T LET TEANAGE BOYS OUTSIDE IN COLORADO IF LIGHTENING IS AROUND!

And this is exactly why I don't own an iPod.

right...everyone's out to make a buck now, I smell movie rights, or at least a bit in an iPod commercial after he gets that payoff check but with a different twist: "iPods save lives"

he probablly had defective ear buds that had a short in them that caused the lightning to find the least path of resistance to ground.

boy better be happy he is a live and realize that he is a dumb a$$ for pushing a metal object near tall trees during a thunderstorm.

recently (i cant find the article) there was a story about warning people to NOT use their cell phones during storms as the metal in them will attract the lightning. Which is crazy, I have more metal on my key chain then is in my cell phone and I only have 6 keys.

To take iPods away from the kids or give them to the kids as storms approach, that is the question.

Well, since lightning doesn't strike the ground, but rather current runs from the ground up to meet the bolt in the air, it's really a nonsensical position. I think they should sue God and see what they win.

How was I supposed to know the electricity could go DOWN the wire?!! I'm sueing the kite manufacturer and the wire retailer for negligence!

(I need a new camera anyways...)

Freaking cows have enough since to try and find shelter when it start lightning! Of course it's usually under the tallest tree in the pasture which gets hit and kills a few of them, BUT THEY TRY! Why was the brain dead boy out mowing grass during an electrical storm? Man I can't even get my kids to mow the grass when it's sunny out. Wonder what he was listening to?

I was waiting for a red light to change one time. Then i saw a SUPER bright light right next to my car. IT definatly blinded the hell out of me, but right after it, a boom so loud, that it left me deaf for 2 days, and not to mention it cracked my windshield. The car rattled so bad, that i seriously thought it would fall apart.

This lightning struck i would say 5 feet away. next to some trees. This is by far the most powerfull sound i have heard to date. Not to mention that i was freaking out after it. The light changed, and i was so stunned, that i did not even make it through the light until the next one.

So yeah, it's definatly a scary feeling.

Regards,

AG

DEEP POCKETS!!! You sue whoever has the most money!

Thankfully he was not wearing Bose headphones or they would have been sued along with Nike, his tennis shoe manufacturer for not having thick enough rubber soles on his shoes to prevent the lightning strike. I am sure his local weather man will also be named in the suit for not predicting that lightning strike.
