You might however get bit by the forum bug and get so addicted to this darn site that you are on it all the time. Your photos do not have to be of the caliber of your husbands or some of the other excellent photographers on here. Use the General Photos section or Open section to post your kids with birthday cake on their face or whatever. There are plenty of posted photos on this site that are of the general nature (candid snapshots). I just posted some shots last night of kids in canoe at Costa Rica. None of the photos were very good but they were interesting photos.

You can also use the Open section to just talk about anything. And that can be non-photography related.

Thanks Jay. I think I am already getting addicted to the forum. Maybe I will post some of the pictures I have taken. I can guarantee you though they are not the caliber of Russell's or some of the other great photographers on here. But thanks for the encouragement.

You might be surprised. Many times the photo taken is impressive to some and not to others. You never know. Russell could be taking tips from you any day now! I'm conviced a great photo doesn't have to be taken with the finest equipment available although it certainly does help. Just size your photos to post and post away. Will be looking forward to seeing them.

Thanks Roy. I don't think Russell will be taking tips from me. I don't know any where close to what Russell knows about photography . I am still a little hesitant about putting my pictures on here but thanks for the encouragement.

My wife doesn't take pictures but is a painter with degrees in fine arts.

She will some times use the Nikon coolpix but leaves the heavy photography to me but is an excellent critic and and gets it when I title pictures like this, "Dead Rabbit in the Manner of Jean Baptiste Simeon Chardin."

My wife enjoys going out with me to take pictures (we do quite a bit of hiking together), and she enjoys looking at my pictures; but she has no interest in taking pictures of her own.

When Russell and I first got married I used to go with him. But he likes to get up at the crack of dawn or earlier sometimes and I am not a morning person. Needless to say I quit going out with him but would look at the pictures when he got back home. Now our daughter would love to go out with him but she is only 5 years old and doesn't know that she has to be quiet sometimes so that he can take a picture. Maybe when she gets a little older she will go with him to take pictures more. Now he does take her to look for deer, check deer feeders, and things like that but she doesn't have to necessarily be quiet to do those things.

I enjoy looking at pictures like Russell and a lot of you guys take( except snakes). From what I have seen on here everyone does a great job.

You're not alone. It's been forever since i've posted on here. I've spent the better part of the last year being a photographer's widow and handling the back end of Will's business for him. But now that both of our kids will finally be in school full time this year (yahoo!) he's convinced me to get behind the camera again and start expanding the business. The group here is one of the best i've seen and believe me whatever your skill level they're always there with helpful advice.

I am glad to hear that I am not alone. Russell (my husband) is an Ag teacher so he is gone sometimes with the high school kids on school trips that he takes them on and when he is not gone with them he goes on photography trips. He is also a writer and photographer for some magazines so while he is gone I usually am at home so I take care of the business on my end that he can't take care of on his end. I will say this though. He is not gone so much that I feel like a photographer's widow but he is gone enough for me. We also have 2 kids(a 5 year old that will go to Kindergarten this fall and a 2 year old) so they keep me busy as well. Like I said before ( I think) I don't really want to get as involved in photography as my husband is but I do like looking at the pictures he takes as well as the other photographers on here. But I do agree with you that the group here is one of the best and they are willing to give advice if you want it.

My wife started as a point and shooter and over the years has developed a very good eye and sense of timing. She jokes that if there is a person or people in any of our pictures, she took it; if it's "only landscape," I took it. . . .In truth she finds details to shoot in settings that I miss while concentrating on the big picture. And I'm amazed by what caught her eye when I post process her images.

I always suggest that we should keep shooting what we like to see in pictures and the rest will take care of itself. Before you know it you'll have plenty of images to enjoy and be proud of!!
