B&H Photo- Opinions? - 07-12-2006, 07:55 AM

I use them, and like them pretty much, although I had a minor billing issue over a backordered item. I had already paid for it, but they kept billing me as if it was a seperate order for some reason. Finally got it corrected, and am very satisfied with them.

I've used them many times. No problems, very prompt shipping on in stock items. Great selection, good price.

Best service hands down I've received from mail order/internet type sales. Professional, fast, courteous and accurate!

Glad they straightened out your billing error, hopefully they made an appropriate apology!

B&H and Adorama - 07-12-2006, 08:37 AM

In the old days, these two were higher than a cat's back compared to Abe's of Maine and a few others. Abe's used to be good people, but according to what I read at pricegrabber, they are now unreputable. B&H and Adorama both deliver quickly and usually have the best prices.

I have never heard anything but good things about both B&H and Adorama. But I since I buy all my gear locally I can't say from experience.

Maybe one day I will have money again to buy gear and I will find out.

Prophet out.

I think both are pretty good bu my preference is B&H. Adorama took 2 or 3 days just to place my last order and shipped it USPS instead of UPS. Maybe that was my fault. Maybe I missed checking a box or something. I hate having to go to Post Office to pick something up and having to deal with postal clerks and their superior blue veined attitudes. If you work at postal office, I will apologize now. I just have not had good luck in my experiences.

Another vote for B&H. I've purchased all my photo equipment through those guys and no problems at all.

I have had excellent service and buying experiences at both B&H and Adorama. Most recently I bought my wife's Fuji F30 at Adorama over the phone. No push for accessories and only a slight sell on the extended warranty, which I declined. Arrived on time and in perfect condition. I've also spent many dollars at B&H. All my new lenses and grip equipment have come from B&H with no issues. YMMV.

I've had lots of minor frustrations with Adorama. They're not crooks or anything, they're just sloppy and not the best at communicating.

They're great, and I've purchased many items from them. However, lately I've been patronizing a local store: Arlington Camera. Yes, I pay a little more, but I also have peace of mind when it comes to ease of returns and personalized support should I need it. Again, B&H is great for online ordering.

I do feel guilty sometimes for not keeping my money here locally but it is really darn conveinant to order online and come home from work and have your equipment on your front porch.

B&H and Adorama are both good companies. Spent alot of money at both places.

B&H get's my vote. The ablity to get an automatic email when an item comes into stock is what got me to grab the 35L last week.

I mainly buy now from B&H and Amazon but on it's Amazon doing the selling not one of it's pardners.

Which reminds me Amazon is taking orders for the 85mm f1.2 MkII at 500 under B&H. Yes, I had one in the cart and deleted it. I may still one click one.
