UK photo magazines - 08-08-2006, 12:18 PM

Is it just me or does the UK turn out more quality photo magazines geared toward digital photography?

I love Digital Camera World and Professional Photographer. I just wish I didn't have to pay the extra cost because of the import.

As far as US magazines go I love my free Rangefinder subscription and should subscribe to American Photo because I buy it every time I see a new one on the stands. I'm also a big fan of PDN.

I don't know, so I'm asking.

Do any of the overseas mags offer a pdf/digital subscription? If so, those are usually a lot cheaper and easier to archive. There are a lot of US magazines starting to roll out digital subscriptions since it seriously reduces their overhead cost.

Oh and I agree that the UK magazine are, in general, better.

Well, typically they always turn out with better things over there than they do here. They are not that regulated by thier goverment like they are here. So they have a little bit more freedom to do things, and produce far more things than we do here.

Now on the other hand. You can subscribe to thier magazines, and get them here as well, or go to B&N and pick them up every month or so.

My favorite place to pick up magazines in Houston is Issues, a magazine store, located on Shepard.

Here's a link to the two I mentioned:

http://www.dcmag.co.uk/
http://www.professionalphotographer.co.uk/

I like them because they are filled with a lot of photos, have great tips and often come with tutorial cds as well.

I'm not sure I understand. Design and editorial content for camera magazines are not regulated here. I do prefer the UK mags, but the US mags also have their merits. Just my two cents.

Everytime I got to the UK I seem to come home with an extra 10-15 pounds of magazines.
Their Photo and Photoshop ones are way better than US ones.
