I took close to 300 at a wedding in July, and kept 22. Yay.

1974-1976, took 3,097 Ecktachrome slides. Call me crazy, but I only got rid of about 60. Kept the oddly-taken and out-of-focus ones as learning experience. I tend to take my digitals the same way. (guess that is the beauty of not being totally into professional photography just yet).

I shot 597 of an actress a couple days ago.. figure we'll probably take about 6 to keep... but we had fun. :)

I've become stingy with the electrons. At my last two hour shoot, I made 45 images from two looks. The model chose 6 and I'll use 1 for my portfolio. I figure that I only have so many good shots in me and I don't want to waste them (sort of like my golf game)
And BTW, I used the in camera delete feature to dump test images and misfires. I like living on the edge

I keep them. I'm in no danger of using up my hard disk anytime soon...

digitals? I keep them: "There's more than one picture in every photo", was a "challenge" saying somewhere else...

I delete them...
Well... I delete the bad ones. Then I keep originals in one place, and cropped/sized/edited in another. :)

That's nothing....LOL. Between 3 of us, we take about 10,000 photos per wedding. I cut down to 600-800.

He he. I've got WAY too many drives on this computer. I back up on my K drive, my P drive, edit and delete off my C drive, and then burn all the finals.
Im sure I'm going WAAAYYY overboard, but I've heard horror stories...

There's a whole way of handling this whole thing if you implement true Digital Asset Management and a good rating system. It's one of the things that we're working on right now. It really involves using a standard rating and tagging system and utilizing something like iView MediaPro to manage all the images. My big issue is the fact that RAW isn't as easily supported yet (the Digital Asset Mgmt Book assumes DNG). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
