Parking Garage Punkery ... - 08-11-2006, 03:05 PM

Ok so today I was trying to get gas. But my bank card got denied. Hmm. Ok. Well that is odd since I almost NEVER use this card. It's basically an account where I have 10% of my paycheck sent just to keep the account open. So not only do I barely use it, it barely has cash. So I pay with a different card and go about my way.

Well I didn't think about it again until I was waiting for Airport Girl to come get me for lunch (that's right, I made her drive). And since I had a moment I called the bank. They said I was overdrawn. Damn it. Ok, now I can admit that this would not have been the first time I was overdrawn at the bank. So while I was annoyed I wasn't terribly shocked. But while I was at lunch with Airport Girl I thought that there was no way I could be overdrawn on THAT account.

So when I get back the office I look the account up and there is a whole slew of $9.00 charges. WTF? Ok so I call the bank and it seems that the Marriot parking garage has been charging my account for parking fees since the seminar. And they are saying that the card is being swiped.

When I went to the seminar I paid for parking with that card. But I was only there once. Unless I have been having out of body parking garage experiences.

So just a word to you people that were there. Check your accounts and make sure you aren't getting screwed like I am. Now I have to do this whole song and dance to get my damn money back.

Prophet out.

dang, that sucks Curt! Sorry to hear it. It can be a big PIA to fight that stuff. I'm assuming they're turning off the card and issuing you a new one? Will be fun to see the person try to swipe it again....but sounds more like a system error..I mean, who stays at a hotel for 2 weeks? Not like Marriott is an extended stay place or anything....
We parked across the street at Walgreens...but we were pulling a trailor that would have been to big for the garage...that I'm thankful for now! :)

Well they did some tracking and it seems that it is most likely a computer error. When I went to the Portrait Seminar at the Galleria Marriot I paid for the parking with my card. $9.

Well it seems that the computer in that machines has been charging my card $9 every day at 3:48 since then. So they cancelled the card and are sending me some form to dispute the charges.

So now I have to do a little dog and pony show to get my money back. I swear I am ~~>> <<~~ this close to closing that account.

I went to a hotel in Hot Springs, AR once and the little punk behind the counter stole my card info and then sold in on the internet.

I had about $1000 worth of MISS CLEO the psyhic phone calls billed to me. Luckily the bank refunded all the overdrawn fees but I was still without the cash.

So I called the MISS CLEO - company number - and talked to their actuall billing dept.

My first question for them was, "WHY DIDN'T MISS CLEO KNOW IT WAS A STOLEN CARD TO PAY HER WITH?!" And I got the song and dance about how her services were for entertainment purposes.......

Back to the legals of this, MISS CLEO's billing dept. gave the phone number that was used to make the calls using my debit card. I called the number and some punk answered the phone, and I asked why they were using my stolen credit card number.

Now here is the funny part - the kid hangs up. I call back. A parent answers....I tell the parent what is happening. Then like in the movie "A Christmas Story" I hear the parent start to beat the teenager! I laughed till I cried.

Then I called my bank and gave the info to them. They pursued legal action and all my money was returned....THE END.
