I got the new ones in the mail but haven't gotten around to sending the old ones back yet. If there are problems with the new ones maybe I'll hang on to the old ones a while longer. It so frustrating on the on/off ramp stations when there's a gate and the damn ez-tag doesn't get recognized.

I got a new one awhile back (maybe a couple of months ago) and I haven't had any trouble with it. Unfortunately it gets a lot of use. I guess we'll be getting another one for the other car because I got one of those emails, too.

James

I've had mine for a month or so - works fine. My wife has a BMW convertable and they sent one of those license plate bars for her car. I took it back because I don't like those - they gave me a new RFID tag for the BMW but warned that some cars are having problems with the new tags. They said it's usually low-slung convertables with windshields that have a steep angle. I guess EZ tag can't figure out the difference between a 3-series and the Z's. The 3-series comes in a coupe and sedan - and the tag works just fine. If you heard reports that a tag is not working, ask what kind of car it was not working on. Both our tags work fine.

I dont have easy tag, not sure how it works, but I heard they deduct money from your bank account before you use it in like $100 increments? Any of yall want to enlighten me on exactly how it works?

Not a $100, more like 30 or 40 bucks at a time. Then as you go through a toll booth it deducts it from your account. Then when you get down to like 10 bucks or so they charge your card another 20 or 30 bucks.

I use my credit card and not my bank account, just incase of a computer glitch I dont want to be out $3,000 instead of $30.

I had one of those bumper tags on my old mini van because of the windshield angle. They are butt ugly, but work.

I will hold on to my old one for now and not send it back in, but I think they said it will expire and quit working soon, like next month or so

That is correct. It's an odd number like $31 or $33.

Mine works fine. The new flat one for my 4runner and the bar tag for my Lexus...

I got the email notice too, and I use my old eztag daily to and from work.
I'll order the new ones soon, I've been delaying because I need a new windshiel first and don't want to buy another tag when I replace the windshield (got a small ding in may - and the heat in July cracked it). Maybe I'll just tape it up until I get around replacing it.

FYI: easy tags work with "other" systems too. I have a surveillanc egoing on where the subject lives in a gated community - the gates operate by EZ tag or a punch code. The eztag # gets entered into their computer to activate it. I also understand some parking garages use it also.

I believe it also works on the tollways in the DFW area.

I certainly hope so! My family and I just spent this weekend up there (land of scorched earth - the lack of rain has produced some awful effects), and we used the tollroads (TollTag lanes). We were using one of the new, thin tags.

the tag is $15, + $40 prepaid in tolls. Once your account drops to $20 (?), they automatically debit your credit card another $40 worth. The EZ tag also gets me thru the security gate at work, as long as my code has been entered into the work system.

the windshield tag won't work on glass that has rain-sensing coating for automatic wipers.

and for a real gotcha, the tag that mounts on the license plate violates the state law (that Metro pushed for) re: blocking the plate. Some cops will even give tickets for it.....
