Observation About Todays Presidential PRESS Conference - 08-21-2006, 11:31 AM

OK the White House has closed the old Press room for renovations and moved the press room to a new location and I noticed something rather interesting that I had not noticed in the old press room. THE MIC'S IN THE ROOM WERE REALLY PICKING UP ON THE STILL PHOTOGRAPHERS FIRING OFF OF THEIR CAMERAS. In the old press room you would hear some clicks but they were really noticeable in todays press give and take with the President.

It was interesting to listen to the cameras clicking in the background, usual dozen or two clicks of a journalist as they asked a question and they get the reaction of the President but then you get the President in an odd look or a pained look or something out of the ordinary and the clicking of the PJ's cameras would turn into a torrent of clicks.

Don't know if they will set up the mic's differently next time or work on the rooms acoustics but this was really noticeable on CBS's feed and actually interesting to observe.

Hell !! I was all ready to jump on you for starting a political thread... and you had to go and make it photography related.... very tricky....
I'll have to check out the coverage and see (hear) what you are referring to.

Tom I know the rules and I love to dance on the edge of a knife at times too.

Guess those Canon's need to be equiped with sound dappeners!

Noticed one photographer chimping in the background-they were showing a person asking a question and you could see the camera back turned up and the photographer chimping some shots using the review button on the back of his camera (couldn't see his face in the shot).
