RSS Reader for TPF Posts - 09-07-2006, 11:30 AM

Anyone use an RSS reader to pull the TPF feeds?

I have a small reader i configured to show the latest 15 posts.

I was just wondering what others are using.

I use Shrook, but can't really get into using it on forums. For some reason I prefer to go and browse the threads. I use it for blogs and news sites mainly.

Well....basically RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and what happens is a website will publish a feed link which in turn can be registered with an aggregator. The aggregator will request new info from the feed and if there is, it lists it.

IN ENGLISH:
TPF has an RSS feed that you can setup or link to in a program to pull all the latest posts and list them. (as pictured above)

How did I do it?

Since I use Yahoo Instant Messenger - I somehow stumbled across these yahoo widget toys (and there are THOUSANDS of them).
One of the toys happened to be an RSS Reader. Once I installed the reader, all I had to do was to configure it to pull the posts from TPF.

How TO do it: (using yahoo widgets as example)
  1. download yahoo widget engine (http://widgets.yahoo.com/download/)
  2. install
  3. download news reader widget (http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=38003)
  4. install news reader widget.
  5. Configure news reader widget to pull posts from ALL of your favorite forums and blogs.
