Yes and yes. I get spam every day, usually 1-2 emails, and it all goes in the spam folder. If you want to try gmail, I'll send you an invite...

Thanks for the offer, I already got one thats what got me checking into it. I dont care for yahoo too much, use Google for pretty much everything else.

So far I like it - not all that fancy junk with yahoo so far.

I have been using gmail for ages now. And while I do get spam every day (what email account doesn't?) 100% of it is filtered out. But the best part of the service is the threading feature that ties emails into threads. Very nice.

I have ... somewhere around 15,000 emails in about 3500 threads. All searchable and all nice and secure. And those 15,000 or so emails don't even take 1/3 of the available space. Attachments and all.

I highly recommend it to everyone.

Prophet out.

I've got both, plus hotmail. Don't use the gmail very often, but I like the interface. Has anyone seen the new Yahoo mail beta? Do not like that interface.

Just my .02 worth.

Gmail is Good.
Whenever I have to give an email address where I think it might generate spam, I give my Gmail address. I have it set up to go straight to my Outlook Inbox so that I don't have to go to Gmail to get it.
Gmail is Good!

I have gmail, but dont realy use it. It does get about 10 to 40 spams a week. Funny cause I have NEVER given out that email address to anyone.

But with gmail you can sign up for other google services. the Calendar, spreadhseets , blogger and photos,. you get 250 mb space for free and for $25 a year you can get 6 gig of space.

Right now Im just signing up for all the free google stuff as it coms out just to be hip and cool, as one day google will rule the net and it will be harder to get the email address you want

Google = Skynet

I use GMail. I used to use Yahoo Beta, and I did like it a lot. I only switched to GMail because I use Google for everything else in the world.

I don't use the actual Email account, just the email interface. I have all my other email addresses forwarding to the GMail account, and then in the settings you can set it up to let you Send mail using any of your aliases. This works great for me since I have tons and tons of domains that I manage.

Not to mention I even have it setup to let me send email as my work account. Great for sending out quick notes with out having to VPN into work.

Of course you can do all that with Yahoo as well, so it's just a preference really.

Interesting to see most people like Gmail. I am a long time yahoo mail user. I like the mail alias (yahoo calls it address guard) feature, where I can create addresses and then delete it after soem time. Does gmail has some thing like that?

I use Gmail as my primary email account - only use Yahoo for signing up for websites and such.

I really like Gmail. Lots of storage space. Good search feature. I too like the way it threads together emails. The main thing I like is the little Gmail Notifier program you can download. Sits in your toolbar and notifies you when you have an email.

But better yet, it also loads up gmail whenever you click on a mailto tag on a website, etc. That would was the one thing that always annoyed me about using a web-based email account in the past is whenever I'd try to click on an email link on a website, it would try to load up outlook express, etc. which I have never used.

I have a Gmail account, I have Yahoo accounts, and I have an account with my ISP. Personally, I've found that the amount of spam that I receive is proportional to how often I give out my e-mail addy when registering with sites, or purchasing on-line. Which is why I have one mail account that I use solely for the purpose of using when doing either of those things, and I keep my other accounts for other purposes. The other accounts stay clean; the one that I give out is inundated with spam (but I don't really care).
