I was born and raised in Armstrong County about 2 miles North of the Palo Duro Canyon and 30 miles SE of Amarillo as was my Dad, Grand Dad, andGreat Grand Dad My Grand Dad helped Charles Goodnight Start and also helped build the Armstong County Courthouse. My brother traced my Dads Family back to 1726 and that's all I know about him.

My Mom was born and raised in Baja Arkansas ( Oklahoma ).

I guess since I brought this thread back to life, I will chime in.

On Dad's side, I'm 4th Generation Texan. I have family all throughout Texas because of this. However, I know next to none of them, aside from immediate and Aunt's/Uncles.

On Mom's Side, I'm pretty sure I'm 3rd gen. Possibly 4th as well, but I'm not sure if my Great Grandfather was born here.

The majority of my extended family (beginning with Grandparents) were born/raised around the Abilene and Coleman area.

Interesting responses! I'm at least a 5th generation Houstonian. The second oldest building in Downtown - the Baker Building on Market Square, was my great -great grandfathers' shop. River Oaks and Temple Terrace were previously the family farms before they were sold to the developers.
