Were you born in Texas? If so how far back can you trace your family?
This is the Texas Photo Forum. We have members that live in Texas and we have members that live in other states. We have members that were born in Texas and we have members that born elsewhere. We have a very good membership and I'm proud to be part of the forum.
I just noticed another forum member ( KENW ) in his signature he says " 5th Generation Texian ".
Well, I'm at least 5th generation. On my Dad's side we can trace back to my Grandmother's Grandfather (a rancher in Jack County).
This is not a poll. Just wondered: If you were born in Texas, how far back can you trace your family?

I'm dual citizenship (American/Canadian)... born in Beaverton, Oregon, then moved to Tonasket, Washington, then to Keremeos, British Columbia, then to Summerland, British Columbia, then to Red Deer, Alberta, then to Phoenix, Arizona, then to Surprise, Arizona, then to Pflugerville, Texas, then to Austin. I now reside in College Station, and we'll be moving to Taylor within a month and a half. Happy? | | | |

5th Gen, my ancestors came here after G-G granpa surrendered at Appomattox Courth house with Lee and settled in Trinity, Texas. The other side is also 5th Gen from West Texas (Ranger-Snyder area) via Ireland and Germany.

I can trace my family back to England in the 1500's and my 9th great grandfather came to the Virgina colony as an indentured servant in 1683. My mother's family came to Texas in the 1850's and my father's after the Civil War although I have cousin on the Stovall who was executed at Goliad. My wife can trace her's back to pre-Republic in Texas and pre-revolution in America.
It's really interesting to do a genealogy and much easier now with the net.

I'm 5th generation. We trace our line to England as well, and one member was knighted by Henry 8th.
We have a family cemetery near Liberty Hill (Austin/Burnet) where the 1st gen Texans rest, I plan to join them someday. They are Citizens of The Republic, which has allowed some of our family members some fantastic access to historical groups and info along the way. I believe that generation was also the first in the USA as some of them frequently returned to England.

I'm a first generation Texan, born in Gladewater in 1939. My dad was from St. Louis, MO, and was the first in his family born in America. His parents were from Nadesch, Rumania, which is located in Transylvania, home of Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) and they came to the US through Ellis Island in the very early 1900s.

Born in Coleman. Raised in Abilene. Connections go back to mid-19th century, several years after the Texas war for Independence.

I was born and raised in Texas but my parents were not. My mom is from Iowa, and my dad from Louisiana. They met and married in Virginia when he was stationed there, then ended up getting transferred to NAS Chase Field in Beeville.

Born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Moved here with my company back in '93. I have a son that was born here, though. This proves that it's not very hard to make a Texan.

I was born and raised in Ohio, my wife in Pennsylvania & the D.C. area, but we've lived in Texas now more than half our lives and both sons were born here. I tried to get here as fast as I could.
