They're always on holiday when I want to order, so I always order from Adorama instead.

B&H follows the Jewish faith calendar. On that note, you can find them open on some other secular holidays. Doesn't bother me. I find a little planning on my part makes buying from them just as convenient as other vendors. YMMV.

I used to order from Adorama... but I switched to Berger Brothers because of the superior service.

I've never order any photo gear that a couple of weeks one way or the other was critical.

Pleasure defered is pleasure increased.

Yeah... In short, what I need (replacement for my spare battery that "broke when it and the camera hit a rock over the summer. Stupid camera.), I've needed for a few months. I "remembered" that I needed a spare battery when my power indicator had one bar on it and there were two more periods to go in the soccer game I was shooting for a friend this weekend. Oddly enough the indicator would show one bar, the team would take a break, and when I looked again it would show full bars... I didn't lose any images and the battery still worked when I left so it worked out... and I can wait or choose to use someone else.

That said, they are still off a lot and usually for an extended period of time compared to other businesses.

True. However, knowing the reason for it, I can respect that.
