I think it's close enough... So, what are y'all doing for the 31st? I'm thinking of crashing some party as a paparazzi. It shouldn't be too hard to find a costume. What about you all?

Sounds like a good plan, James... what kind of candy? I would recommend Jawbreakers...

According to everyone who lives in our complex, no little kids ever come to get candy here. So, we're just going to go to Nathan's cousin's house and hang out with him and his wife and eat lots of candy and watch movies (and give out some candy, but they don't get many trick-or-treaters either).

I have NO idea - but a few weeks ago we went to a Halloween party at Disney World. I got schnookered into dressing up as minnie mouse - yellow shoes and all. Maybe I'll wear those to the next wedding I shoot!

I'll be scaring the crap out of the neighborhood kids.
We have a reputation as the scariest house in the 'hood, with at least one trick-or-treater peeing their pants each year.

Using my rock concert production background, we have sound effects, real torches, smoke machines, strobes, "something's in the garage!!", two live witches, skeletons, spider webs, rats and bats, etc.
Bubble wrap (the big kind) under a rug on my porch makes them scream when they step on it and it pops.
An electric eye out by our cars triggers a backup alarm--beepbeepbeep--when they come up the driveway. It makes them jump.

To top it off, when a kid fails to uphold their end of the bargain by giving us a weak "trick or treat" or none at all, they get stiffed.
Instead of a handful of the choice candy we load them up with--also the best in the 'hood--we slip them a few packets of Taco Bell sauce.
It cracks us up imagining the look on their faces when the get home and DON'T find the full-size Reeses Cups and Snickers and Twix Bars, but their brother or sister has theirs.

When it gets late and a group of teenagers who are really too old to be ringing doorbells shows up, I'll come around the side of the house (dressed up as a zombie biker) and chase them down the street screaming and swinging an axe.

It's great fun.
Hopefully I'll have the infrared emitter array finished in time to shoot some night-vision video.
The first year we lived here there were 40 kids. The next it was 80. This year the word of mouth should be good for 120, I hope.

I run everything from remote control switches while peeking out the window, and am very careful about toning it down for the little ones. I have never made a child cry.
But when I throw the whole show into action even the parents have been known to freak out.

I have to shoot the Tony Romo show for the ESPN website, so I guess I'll leave my boyfriend home to dish out the candy!! (if he doesn't eat it all..)

Keith's post reminded me that one year the cop in my neighborhood had the loudspeaker on his partol car hooked up so that whenever people walked by he could scream out of it. it scared the bejeebus out of everyone, haha... it was so fun :D

I went to a great Halloween party last weekend (so great that I don't remember part of it!) but unfortunately I don't have any other plans. I really want to go out somewhere though... we'll see :D
