To borrow and modify a line from a famous comedian:
Christmas is about love, not money. Thankfully, I love money. (that's a joke, people, put the pitchforks down already! )

And this is different, how?
I know, it used to be that "tradition" was after Thanksgiving... but honestly, I can't remember a time in the last 20 years that it hasn't been this way.. Christmas goes up in the card stores in July (Christmas in July is what they honestly call it) and has for the better part of the last 30 years.
Please, get annoyed over something important.
(Edit: Ok, that sounded harsher than I meant it.. but really, there is no way any amount of your irritation is going to change it.. so why not invest that energy elsewhere?)

I used to think it was stupid, but as a business it's QUITE helpful. For exapmle, I'm finishing up Christmas Portrait sessions before Thanksgiving. If I wanted to buy cheesy Christmas Props (which YAY I haven't had one client ask me about !!!!) I'd need the stores to have them by the beginning of October and not after Thanksgiving. I DO, however, think it's a bit early for consumers to start decorating their houses. At least wait until closer to Thanksgiving, but then I don't know the circumstances that made people put their decorations up early.

Mandy in most of the larger cities there are ALL YEAR CHRISTMAS stores that sell Cheesy Christmas Props and there is always the Internet to buy em on too.
Now I could possibley see a store in DENVER which had a foot+ of snow last week maybe having some Christmas stuff up but ISLES AND ISLES OF STUFF THAT isn't really needed for weeks? I guess since people have gone more away from cut live trees to artificial trees they can put up their stuff and have it up for 2 full months, do that to a live cut tree and on christmas day you can have your in house bonfire too since the trees usually are cut 4-6 weeks before they reach the tree lots down here. So cut them Christmas Trees in Michigan in September and have them up through New Years!
I love Christmas but this is just getting a bit too much and Brad I just don't remember going to buy Halloween Candy/Costumes/Etc and having to go past the CHRISTMAS stuff!

I live down the street from a guy who starts in early October. This old guy goes all out!! He really enjoys his Christmas decorating. I asked why he didn't wait till later and his reason was he liked to have it done before it got cold or the rare snow we get.. Makes since to me do it when ya want enjoy the season the way YOU want too.. hehe

I don't like Christmas. I can't tell you the main reason since it would be religious. But I can tell you that one thing I hate about the season is having a hard time trying to buy everyday needs items and people that think they need to buy a gift to prove their love getting in the way. Gift giving makes no sense to me. Person A feels like they have to buy Person B a gift and Person B feels like they have to buy Person A a gift and it turns out that the gift each received they don't need or want. Wouldn't it be more simple to buy yourself something? Seriously, the best gift you can give someone is yourself. Be there for that person and be their friend and listen to them when they need someone to talk to and try to help them if they need help. If a person thinks you don't care for them because you didn't buy them a gift then they have some issues. And just because someone is you wife, hubby, brother, sister, daddy, mommy, etc doesn't mean you can't be their friend. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
