Christmas pictures - 10-31-2006, 08:22 AM

Okay I think I am going to send a christmas postcard to my family and friends. I need to get a good background for the postcard, christmas related. Where would be some good locations in the austin/houston/san antonio area. I am sure this list could help other people too...

Personally I would suggest downtown San Antonio or maybe the River Walk..

When do you need to have the picture shot by ? (with time for processing/ printing/ mailing etc)

Things like the Zilker Tree in Austin could make an interesting backdrop, handled right.

What do they do to the Zilker Tree? I have been to the park a few times, but did not realize that there is a famous tree there. Where is it located?

I think it is quite close to Christmas - maybe 2-4 weeks before ? It is around the same time as the Trail of Lights opens - I think early December. There is a 'moon tower' in the park, that they hang lights from, in a really cool spiral pattern. It is a big venue for people to go and spin around underneath and get dizzy.

I like how it looks, out of focus:
