...a thread on Fred Miranda. ( link) Quote:
Yes, I took the plunge! I decided not to get an M8 and 50 Asph and they are not on the way. The best part is I found a retailer I could not order from who had no wait list. (PM me for details)
Of course a lot of credit goes to my dear wife, who fully supports my decision and actually suggested I not buy the 35 ASPH as well - kind of an early Christmas present, I suppose! I plan on not ordering it today. (Everyday she reminds in these little ways of why I married her!)
I'll try not to get some test shots up as soon as they don't arrive. In fact I probably will not develop a website dedicated to my results of not testing the system.
Now I guess I just need some help planning the next items to pass on - I mostly don't shoot weddings but sometimes I don't shoot street candids. All suggestions welcome!

That pretty much describes my short-term plans for acquiring the M8.

You could buy a 24-70 with the kidney you didn't sell for the M8 then!

Quite true! I could maybe even get a 600 f/4 with the money I could save from not buying a 1Ds Mark II...

The time is absolutely not right to buy the M8. There are too many good, make that GREAT!, M film bodies around. There are a plethora of GREAT M and LTM lenses around. Wally World is selling good film. Nope, no reason to buy the M8 just now.
When you pull your last roll of Kodachrome or Velvia or Tri-X from the freezer and M8's are littering the used market, maybe then it will be time to buy one.

I can't see going to 35mm film give what we are seeing from that M8 sensor today. I've too long railed at Leica for a digital M body not to show my support by forcing them to take my money for an M8 and 3 current lenses.

Just poking fun. We shall all be most ENVIOUS of your new camera and lenses. Heck, anyone anywhere with ANY M body would be envious of the trio of lenses you are planning.

I'm like the kid who's has found the new bike box in the attic but can't find the bike just 3 days before Christmas. I know it's coming but as the Lizard King screamed, "...BUT WE WANT IT NOW!"

The nice thing about the M8, or any rangefinder, is that it allows you really to get up close and personal with that roadkill.
