Maybe it's both. That has to be the craziest thing I've seen in a while.

Guys,

It's an environmental construction. He's playing on several themes here and a Bar is just one of them. I'm surprised the Austrian's removed it. I found it rather anti-sexist in it approch to the themes of alcohol ("Women get prettier at closing time"), bars as a place of sexual encounters and the role of women seen in that milieu.

I thought the Austrians were more sophistcated.

Thanks John, I had no idea what it was. The whole thing reminded me of something out of A Clockwork Orange.

There was a Club in Dallas for a while called the MilkBar but failed misserabley on carrying out the theme.

ACWO is one of my favorite movies, great music, great acting, a hard look at society, and just a bit of the ol violence and T+A.
BTW that movie turned 35 this year! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066921/

"There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence."

There was a Korova Milkbar in NYC and has just closed to relocate. It operated for 10 years.

You guys are killing me with the Clockwork Orange stuff.

Paul, that's a great quote. You know, that movie is just downright creepy and scary. Even watching it now, it's creepy and the book is too. The movie is great and holds up so well after all these years.

That film has generated a huge number of cultural references.

Trivia the nude painting in Korova Milk Bar was also used by Kurbrik in The Shinning.
