the Dominoes Brooklyn Style Pizza is just the same as their regular pizza with 1 exception, the slices are larger so you have to "fold it like a man" what ever the heck that means.
its just a marketing gimic to try and sell more of the same stuff

5th generation native btw | Ken, you must be older than me. Chapala's moved to that location in 1994-95 from farther out Jones Road. I'm glad he's still there, I haven't eaten there since 1997. he also had a location closer in on 290 near 34th, but I think it's gone. Don't let him know it's your birthday; he will put a sombrero on your head and sing happy birthday.

In the mid 1970s Bellaire was widened, and Aldo lost too much business and closed.

yes, we started at Chapala at the old location (Jones @ Grant).
One of the original guys now owns the place at 1960 near Ella (?), can't recall name but it's pretty good.

Reformed Ny'er here who grew up all over from Manhattan to Montauk to Upstate. Pizza is like TexMex or BBQ down here. It's not just a food but a religion to some. There is an art to making a good pie and everyone is distinctly different. Just like BBQ is different in cities around TX.
Now, Brooklyn is synonymous with good pizza if you're from one of the five Borroughs. From Lombardi's, Totonno's to the never ending "Original" Rays. It is a marketing gimmick by Domino's b/c when you get down to it...it's still a Domino's cardboard rendition of a Pizza.
For the best Pizza in and around Austin there are few that come close to even offering a good NY style pie. The first, and probably best, is Saccone's located in Austin and Cedar Park. Owner is from NJ and has brought a little bit of the area with him. Pies only come in one size (large) and my personal favorite is the sweet sauce with onions and black olives. They even offer Sabbrett's with Onion Sauce. If you've never heard, or much less, tried one of these do give 'em a try. They are a staple of all kids growing up in NY...which brings back instant memories if you ever see a blue and yellow umbrella pushcart.
A distant second is Yaghi's in Cedar Park. If all Saccones burnt down I would go here. They are tops over all others but my love is for one. The last place that needs mentioning is Tuscany Market and Vineyard in Austin. They have a unique Italian brick oven that heats up to 1400 degrees which will cook a pizza in 2 minutes. Tuscany’s crust has great texture, in the true Neapolitan style, and wonderful flavor. The Mediterranean and Margherita are the best IMHO.
With all of these service is not 4 or 5 star so don't go in expecting the best. They stay in business simply b/c of the product and lack of true competition. Though it's not all bad service just expect to have not the best all the time.

well, on the Radio, I don't hear anything about Pizza, but more on the Burger King Whopper. How Texas Style Whoppers are found only in Texas. But I agree that Texas BBQ is some of the best in the U.S.
For the talk on Mexican food here, it is hard to find a good Mexican restaurant instead of a TexMex. I think a really good place is a place called Andy's. Its a small restaurant in the Heights off of 11th and White Oak. Its actually across the street from Hogg Middle School, and its open 24/7.
