Dr. Milton Friedman who won the 1976 Nobel Prize for economics poses for a photo in a 1977 file photo. Friedman has died at age 94, a spokesman for the Milton & D. Rose Friedman foundation says. (AP Photo/Eddie Adams, File)

He was known for his portrait and PJ work but best known for this Vietnam War Pic:

I read a great deal of his work when taking a graduate level Eco course once. I even heard him speak and got my copy of Free to Choose signed by him and Rose.

But his son David is also an economist and continues expand his father's free market ideas with some interesting insights.

There were three Economists that were pretty much the top 3 that students would have dealt with their works back in the day because they wrote the text books that most colleges used to teach the subject and they were Galbraith, Friedman and Samuelson with 2 of these men passing away this year and Samuelson in his 90's now.

Of course there are many others including many Nobel Winners http://almaz.com/nobel/economics/economics.html that are/were great men but these three were some of the people whose works were studied the most.
