I am taking the course. I think it's ok. But right now you can get same information in any entry level books.

Mike,
I am taking the course. Yes you probably could find the info in books, but the books lack the assignments. So unless you are motivated enough to create your own assignments you would basically be reading the book. I think the only way to get better and learn photography is to practice.

Just my $.02

I just got a letter in the mail about a new short course that is intro to digital cameras. Its not going to go in depth on lighting and using CS2, but its a good intro course. I am thinking of taking it to brush up on my knowledge since I havent shot in a while.

I wanna do the digital course to learn more about CS2, but also looking at some classes at the local college.

Mike,
I would recommend the course. I won't say I already knew a lot, but I also wasn't a complete noob either. I have learned a few concepts that I didn't realize.

Isn't one of the major selling points of the NYIP course that your assignments get graded or critiqued by professionals?
