So, we are trying to make Belgain Waffles...and so far - I suck. So does *Mike* but he's fightin a heck of a battle with that waffle iron!

So far, no waffles...

Our easy 10 min recipe was started an hour ago....

If it gets ugly - I'll take some casuality shots!

Just goes to show...just b/c you have professional equipment, doesn't mean you're a pro!

Edit: Anybody got a pizza recipe?

Must haves-cured waffle iron, iron to right temp before pouring batter, bottle of booze (helps to relieve tension), skillet *make pancakes!
Saw the pic-your waffle iron isn't cured/seasoned hence sticking.

The droopy part could be too much batter or the wrong mix of mix and liquid.
(add viagra to firm them up- ha ha ha)

I dunno- never had that problem- but only ever owned 1 waffle iron- it's non-stick- put the batter in, spread it around some, close it and wait- and works fine. Maybe the batter is too thin, or maybe not enough (if you're rotating it while cooking). Krust-Eze or whatever it's called seems to work fine.

and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Oh yeah, IHOP makes good waffles, btw.

Wait for the ding?! This is a gorgeous, top of the line, professional waffle maker! Must be busted though, cause the waffles suck...

Be sure to let them get real hot first. Biggest mistake people make is starting efore they are fully hot.
Also let the sit for the reccomended time (usually about 2 minutes depending on your waffle maker wattage), and don't peak/check/open!

I've made waffles the last 2 mornings - of course it is part of the continental breakfast at the hotel I am staying in - pour a cup of batter in the maker, close & flip, wait fr the buzz.

Was this non-stick coating or not? Brand new?

Use Pam spray, it helps a lot.

This is actually a new waffle iron, with non-stick coating, that was sprayed with pam before the batter was added. I got the recipe of the Food Network... Maybe we should've gone with Rachel Ray instead of Emeril.

You all are totally thinking its the mix! Thats funny...

So, as we were brunching today, *Mike* asked the chef what's up with our batter/ iron. The dirt is - if you use reg. waffle mix or a normal waffle recipe in a Belgian/ thick waffle iron - you get yuck.

Then he sold us a bag of mix they use at the country club! Boo Ya! Jackpot! I think that'll be my waffle hook up from now on. Forget the food network!
