Official Statement, "I think Warranties are good" updated pic - 11-19-2006, 06:19 PM

Well last wed coming home from work my truck started misssin, kept missin and gettin worse, then started KNOCKIN bad, its a 2003 Dodge ram with the hemi,
anyway i shut it off, checked the oil it was fine, it would barely run much less drive anywhere so i called Dodge Roadside assistance, they towed it to Huffines Dodge in Plano,

well the next morning I called them and explained what had happened. They got to it later that day, during the test drive (around the lot) it seized up completely.
oh man, they called and said they would get the engine guy on it friday. This truck has 49000 miles on it.
Friday comes along and he calls me about 1 pm, he tells me "well we are ordering you an engine. Dodges warranty is 8 yrs or 80000 miles on the powertrain.
It had broken a valve spring. It seemed there had been a few problems with this and had redesigned the valve train in 05.

The pic above is the valve stem it when the spring broke it fell into the cylinder did some awesome damage lol the head of the valve is embedded in the top of the piston.
did damage to the one cyl head as well as the intake.
They air frieghted the short block from detroit. So hopefully by tuesday i will h ave it back with just about totally new engine, I know it has been a PITA but it will be worth it im sure, I asked the service advisor what a job like this runs he said well probably between 9 and 10K lol its ok Dodge has plenty of money they wont even feel it lol

and heres a pic of the piston lol thats the valve embedded into the dome

Robert you should be fine they redesigned it when they saw the problem

Yikes! That would have cost quite a bit out of warranty!

Wow, thats some AWESOME damage! I used to have pieces of a thrown rod laying around as paper weights...it punched through the block and then through the ac compressor bracket, it was SWEET . I bought that car for $200 thanks to the blown engine!

Every time I took a blown-up engine apart, I was always amazed at the damage. Glad they are going to take care of you.
