but I thought that I just had to tell ya'll. MY MOM CAUGHT MY KITCHEN ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She put these rolls in a pan in the oven so they could rise. Here's the kicker. I told her NOT to put a kitchen towel over them while they are in the oven. She said. "Oh no. It won't catch on fire if the oven is on the lowest setting" Well after being int he oven for about 45 minutes, what does the towel do??? IT CATCHES ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankfully there was no major damage and my mom said... "Thank goodness the rolls are OK!!!" I'm losing my mind with my parents here.

My mom is loony. I remember one year she wanted to roast some peanuts in the oven. ( I was just a kid) She put the nuts in a PLASTIC bowl in the OVEN!!! The house smelled of burning plastic for a month!!

OH well. Gotta love her.

OMG! Glad Im not the ONLY one who has ever set the oven on fire during thanksgiving! hahahaha A few years ago we had an oven fire. i cook my turkey over night in one of those disposible aluminum pans. it got a hole in the bottom of it and dripped greese all over the oven. I went to go cook rolls later and turned the oven up and next thing I know, POOF!!! The oven is on fire. OOPS! Luckily there wasnt any damage.

Towel over rolls moistened in oven ok for 4 to 5 minutes not 45 minutes!

I can truthfully say that I have never caught an oven on fire in my life, I've seen some fires in kitchens before but they were in restraunts and they were easily snuffed by a quick thinking/acting cook with either a pan lid (in most cases) or just taking the burning pot to a deep sink and dousing it with water-not doing that on the stove top.
BTW I do know my way around a kitchen.

Since Turkeys are so cheap if you have freezer space pic one up to cook later.

Heard of a great recipe a few years ago and did do it a couple times, take the turkey clean out it's cavity and stuff the cavity with pealed citrus slices-lemons, oranges-grapefruit *may even try limes- and then bake like a normal bird with stuffing. AFTER the bird is cooked remove contents and throw away-makes a very juice bird.

As to baking birds I prefer to bake a duck-easy to do and great to eat!

Never ever, put a sweet potatoe cassrole with large marshmellows on the top to heat it up and melt the marshmellows in a microwave.

I will just say each marshmellow gets about as large as a softball.

I stumbled home once in the mountains very drunk. Upon entering the cabin I fell towards the coal burning potbelly stove and knocked the chimney pipe off. Passed out on the couch and woke up next morning with a sore, yucky tasting throat.
The good ole days, I miss 'em.

Wanna make a mess? Nuke a whole egg-in shell! (be sure to put it into a covered glass bowl or you will be cleaning egg out of every nook and cranny of that microwave.) Makes a heck of a whomp sound when it explodes!

You can actually cook eggs in the shell in a microwave. First wrap each egg in aluminum foil and then place in bowl and cover completely with water. Boil water for time you want the eggs.

But Gerbils are the best for nuking in a microwave
.

But if you don't know Joe don't go there.

Hey this is supposed to be the Crazy Chef thread not real cooking advice but you can make some of the best scrambled eggs using a microwave-just prep them up and then nuke em for a short time-come out fluffy and smooth. Don't think an omelette would work too well.

That Gerbil thing was great-wonder what a PIKA would say in the nuker?
