I just finished reading THANKSGIVING by Janet Evanovich, and wow did that book take a wrong turn. Total bummer. And the beginning was so promising...I couldnt tell where she was going at all.

Was wondering if that book left anyone else bummed.

Dinner is beeping - yum yum

I was gonna say (then dinner was ready) that this was the 1st book I read that had nothing to do with Photography or for grad school, and it started off really well, and then the last 1/3 of the book went into a slumy funk and never recovered. When I got to the last page, I was totally shocked she didnt recover...

Im assuming everyone in here reads photog books - anybody read anything else recently that was worth mentioning - or something that was totally stinkin' good???!!! <--- That means super crazy great!

Totally stinkin' good? Uh... probably the manual for my SB 24's.

...okay, you meant something else? I'd have to say that The Complete Calvin and Hobbes was the best read I've had in quite some time.

Hey, I went back and re-read 3 Perry Mason books from the library- does that count?

I recall reading the Red Pony by Steinbeck long long ago- my impression was that it started off poorly and went downhill. And David Copperfield had a similar lack of interest, but drug it out for far far longer. And Under the Wheel was a bummer, too.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Here are some excellent fiction reads about photographiers.

DelCorso's Gallery by Philip Caputo Great writing by Caputo about PJ's in Beruit in the '80's. It's fun if you know a bit about the PJ world figuring who some of the characters are based on.

Highways to a War by Christopher J. Koch (Koch wrote A Year of Living Dangerously)

Presumed dead: A novel by Jean Lartéguy (a fictional account of the life and death in Cambodia of Sean Flynn by the great french writer Jean Lartegury)

im a dean koontz fan. If you LIKE fast paced, thriller novels, Dean koontz is your man. His Fan Favorite book is Watchers.
I also like Steven J Cannell - He used to be the writer for 21 jump street & the A team. He writes a lot of police type novels. His fan fav is the Tin Collectors. It is a series of books so you have to read them in the right order otherwise they make NO sense at all. Dean koontz has a few series novels that you have to read in order......Its the Odd Thomas Series. Other then that its open game.
Im reading Dean koontz, "the husband" now. Its really good!
